From Sale to Hale in 40 years

Local family business continues to thrive

Rooms Bros, of 116 Ashley Road, Hale, are celebrating their 40th year in business by building a high-tech cinema demonstration room that will allow customers to try out the most expensive pieces of AV equipment on-site. The ultramodern facility is due to be completed at the end of May, when a launch event is also planned.

Specialists in multiroom audiovisual solutions, the Rooms family has served the Cheshire region, including celebrities, footballers and local millionaires, with home entertainment facilities for 40 years. Despite the recent financial strain experienced by many local businesses, Rooms Bros are currently upgrading facilities at their Bose showroom to ensure the best possible service for their new, and many loyal, customers.

As the demand for increasingly complex home entertainment systems grows, Rooms Bros are a business at the very heart of the local area, with more than 95 per cent of all business originating from Hale and Altrincham and a client base ranging from compact terrace properties to sprawling multimillion-pound mansions. 

The business was started in Sale Moor by two brothers, Alan and Ken Rooms, who began as TV aerial installers fitting just 20 aerials a week at a time before satellite television had reached most UK households. Over twenty years later Alan’s identical twin sons, Marc and Simon, joined the firm to add a new flair to the family business. 

The longest serving Rooms brother, Alan, comments on the secret of their enduring success as a business: “Having been in the area so long, we know the people, the history and other local businesses inside out. From the start we believed strongly in building good relationships based on trust and consistently good work. In this industry we also have to stay ahead of the game and on top of new technologies entering the market. Our clients want state-of-the-art equipment and we have adapted to deliver the best service to their homes and businesses.”
