Police patrols in Hale have been boosted after a local business donated two state-of-the-art bicycles. The lightweight carbon-framed Coyote mountain bikes, which were built by Devereux Cycles and paid for by Citybranch Ltd, will be used by officers to patrol the area. The cycles will not only allow officers to cover much greater distances when out and about but will also provide quick access to areas unreachable by car, such as fields, footpaths and woodland areas. They will be maintained by community volunteer Mick Jones. Inspector Simon Wright of the Altrincham Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are grateful to Citybranch for this extremely useful donation. The obvious benefits of speed, stealth and accessibility mean that officers can pop up where they are least expected. This is an excellent tool in dealing with incidents of youth nuisance and anti-social behaviour. Moreover, they also provide a useful tool in striking up a rapport with local youngsters who want to know about the bikes.” So watch out for the bobbies on their bikes next time you’re out and about in the area and give them a wave. |
