Good luck to local girl Karen Waldron, who travels to Jinja, Uganda this summer with three of her university friends to volunteer with the charity Volunteer Partnership Uganda. She will be there for a month working on a project aimed at improving the facilities at Valley View Primary School for HIV orphans. The former Withington High School pupil has been trying to raise sufficient money so the school can afford construction materials, and will be involved in the labour work during her time out there. She also hopes to teach English to the students and improve their lives in any way possible. Karen plans to take out donations of equipment that would be useful at the school, such as paper, pencils, footballs and old football kit.
