I can’t believe it’s May already. We’ve had a busy time here at St. James House, the magazine HQ. We’ve been helping Beaver Road School with their Communications Project and entertained the 90 children from Year two in our offices recently. I’m sure there’s a future Vogue editor or front cover model among those impeccably behaved children.
There’s lots happening on the restaurant front; Loch Fyne, Didsbury has recently had a refurb and introduced a new menu. And did you know that they do take-away?
The old Barleycorn pub site on Barlow Moor Road, Didsbury is looking great now that Albert’s Restaurant & Bar is almost complete. This is a £1.5m refurbishment by the owners of Albert’s Shed and Duke’s 92 in Castlefield, and brings to Didsbury another sophisticated eatery with outside dining and drinking space - which can only be a good thing because we are promised a long, hot summer – aren’t we?
Also, Amba in Hale has been revamped, The Rope & Anchor, the new sister venue to the Plough & Flail in Mobberley is due to open in Dunham Massey, and Khandoker Bramhall opened last month - you’ll be relieved to know that I’m not the Chef.
Don’t forget to register for St. Ann’s Hospice Manchester Midnight Walk, I’ll be there and it would be great to see some familiar faces. Dates for your diary include The Genesis Appeal Keep Fit and Pink Day on 6 June, The Didsbury Festival on 10 June, the start of the World Cup on 11 June (oh no!) and Didsbury Open Gardens on 13 June.
