Over 750,000 people take a holiday in England’s most South Westerly county each year and who can blame them. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the country and with such a diverse range of things to do, there’s a holiday for everyone’s tastes. With over 300 beaches in Cornwall, beach bunnies will never get bored and many of the beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag award. Apart from a day on the beach building sandcastles, flying kites and splashing in the water, there are lots of great places to visit that will keep your little ones occupied and fascinated for hours on end. With heritage and nature trails, museums, boat trips and a host indoor play centres and parks children will fall in love with Cornwall. Highlights are the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth and the Eden Project near Saint Austell. For those who want a bit more adrenaline induced action, Cornwall is synonymous with surfing, and Newquay is the surfing mecca of the UK. Why not head to one of the area’s many beaches and try and ride some of the famous surf. If you’re a beginner there are plenty of surf schools at all the main beaches that promise to have you standing before you know it! Cornwall also boasts Flambards theme park, miles of cycle tracks and Adrenalin Quarry that offers the UK’s longest, fastest and most daring zip wire. Cornwall has long been seen as the home of pasties and cream teas and while these icons are still cherished by both those who live there and visitors to the county, the food and drink industry in Cornwall has exploded in the last few years with imaginative and award-winning producers springing up throughout the county. From restaurants with Michelin stars, to those made famous by the likes of Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver, Cornwall has fine dining to suit every visitor. Cornwall has also become even more accessible with bmibaby offering up to six flights a week direct from Manchester Airport to Newquay Cornwall Airport.
